It is a social networking service with strong emphasis given to music. It is owned by Specific Media LLC and pop music singer and actor Justin Timberlake. It was founded in 2003. The headquarter is located at Beverly Hills, California, US. Features:
  1. Bulletin: It can be useful for contacting an entire friends list without resorting to messaging users individually.
  2. Moods: These are small emoticons that are used to depict a mood the user is in.

  Ning
It is online platform for people and organizations to create their own social network using tools and expertise given. It was founded in October 2004 and located at Palo Alto, California, United States. Features:
  1. Built-in email address to broadcast functionality for HTML newsletters
  2. Design studio helps user to use professional themes as it is or customize to create a look unique. Adding CSS, javascript, and creating custom page, develop own custom mobile apps are other functionality.
  3. Access to membership data: It gives tools to empower most active members by promoting them to moderator status-allowing them to be even more about members and what’s working in community.
  4. Submit photos, videos, and blog post.
  5. Control on community to make private, or public. User can set individual sections to be public or private. And if user wants ads, then the only ads of users can be added.

  Orkut
It is owned by Google. Originally it was hosted at California. Later in August, 2008, Google announced that Orkut would be fully managed and operated by Google Brazil. The service is designed to help users meet new and old friends and maintain existing relationships. The website is named after its creator, Google employee Orkut Büyükkökten. Features:
  1. User can add photos, video, testimonials, birthdays, conversations and reminders.
  2. User can create community.
  3. User can fan of any friends in their list and can also evaluate whether their friend is "Trustworthy", "Cool", "Sexy" on a scale of 1 to 3 (marked by icons) and this is aggregated in terms of a percentage.
  4. Each member can also customize their profile preferences and can restrict information that appears on their profile from their friends and/or others (not on the friends list).
  5. User can add any other member on Orkut to his/her "Crush List" and both of them will be informed only when both parties have added each other to their "Crush List".
 

 

  Picassa
It is another photo management application, originally created by Lifescape in 2002 and later in 2004 google owned it. User can upload their photos from either online or desktop application. User need to have google account for using online version. Features:
  1. File importing and tracking features
  2. Tagging, facial recognition, and collections for further sorting.
  3. Basic photo editing functions, including color enhancement, red eye reduction, and cropping.
  4. Slide shows, printing, and image timelines.
  5. Images can also be prepared for external use, such as for e-mailing or printing, by reducing file size and setting up page layouts.
  6. Integration with online photo printing services. Other simple editing features include adding text to the image.
